5 Tips for Spring Outfitting

It’s finally, truly, spring! And with every new season comes a learning curve with fashion (or is it just me?). I feel so excited for newness and creativity, but sometimes forget my footing and feel slightly dazed. Here are 5 tips for spring outfitting in the hopes of regaining your footing quicker this season than usual.

Light & Versatile Layers

Layering up might seem odd when hitting a warmer season, but hear me out. The morning can feel vastly different from the afternoon, but obviously you don’t want to bring a chance of clothes with you while you’re out. Wear a cute, basic tee under a nice sweater. When it gets hot, take the sweater off and wrap it around your shoulders (which is super trendy right now). Or wear a tank under your button down and unbutton it when the day gets warmer - or take it off completely. You can also combine the three - tank, button down, and sweater. Either way, these pieces are versatile and guaranteed to keep up with the ever-changing weather!

Master the Balancing Act

70 degrees is not equal on any given day. One day it could be a cool 70, and another, blistering. I like to balance my clothing when it’s cool, but is going to feel a lot warmer halfway into walking. For example, if you’re wearing shorts and exposing your legs, wear long sleeves or a cropped sweater. Inversely, if you’re wearing jeans, wear a sweater tank or button down. You can also add a pair of sandals to pants to add some balance!

Invest in a Light Jacket

I know a lot of people who have winter coats, but not spring jackets. They’re either bracing the cold temps, or they’re sweating it out in a heavy piece. To avoid all of this, it’s a good idea to bite the bullet and invest in a light jacket. I personally love jackets, so I have many to choose from. But if you’re not wanting to explore and invest in a few, I’d stick with a classic trench coat.

Not sure where to find spring jackets? I got you covered.

Predict the Weather

This is basically a PSA to check the weather before you get dressed. Just because the sun is shining doesn't mean that it’ll be warm, and vice versa. I particularly like to check the humidity in spring for hair styling purposes. HOT TIP: the dew point is really what you want to be looking for, as that determines how much of the humidity you’ll be feeling. If it’s over 50, then prepare for frizzy hair.

Embrace the Spring Color Palette

Whether it’s really warming up yet or not, embracing a spring color palette is a great way to transition into spring outfitting. Even if it’s cold, you can still wear a lavender sweater. Beige denim exists. Opt for a sage bag. These pops of colors can get you in the spring mood!

I hope these 5 spring outfitting tips help you this spring!
