Why I Love Long Outerwear: A Modern Love Story

Outerwear is one of my all-time favorite things about fashion. First of all, there are endless options to choose from - silky dusters, leather jackets, and oversized blazers to name a few. Second, outerwear adds dimension and interest to an outfit. Lastly, outwear is a great way to stamp your signature on your outfit. Outwear can be a statement piece, or just your favorite jacket with every outfit. Personally, I love long outwear. Let me tell you why.

Long outwear is flattering, chic, and visually appealing. These three things alone are ultimate #stylegoals.

1. Long Outerwear is Flattering

The reason long outwear is flattering is because it adds length. Want to look taller and slimmer? Throw on a duster cardigan or a trench coat and you’re there.

2. Long Outwear is Chic

When I think of “chic,” I imagine a woman in Paris. She’s walking along in fitted clothing, carrying a baguette, donning red lipstick, and wearing a long trench coat with a turtleneck. The epitome of chic. Long outwear has a sense of confidence and sophistication.

Outerwear doesn’t necessarily have to scream “chic,” but it does signify your personal style. For example, wearing an embellished duster represents a bohemian style.
