Comprehensive Glossier Review

Ever since the dewy look was “in” I wanted to try Glossier. This must have been back in 2016, but since Glossier was online only, I never ordered any. Flash forward to February 2021, and I decided to bite the bullet and just try it. Ever since then, I’ve tried several of their products. Let me tell you, I am in love. I’m writing a comprehensive Glossier review of every product I’ve ever tried.

Before I get into it, here are a few things you should know about Glossier:

  • They’re a skin-care first brand. Since they value skin-care, all of their makeup products are actually good for your skin.

  • Glossier is cruelty-free.

  • If you’re not sure what shade is right for you, you can email their team a picture and they’ll give you their suggestion!

  • They love to give out free samples. #score

  • To help you save money: they offer a lot of bundles with a discount.

Boy Brow, 5/5

I have very light eyebrows, so doing them is incredibly important to me. I used to do them with a pencil, but they look more natural with gel. I tried using various brands, like Anastasia Beverly Hills, but Boy Brow was the winner for me. It’s pigmented, but not too much where correcting mistakes is difficult. My only beef is that the tube only lasts a couple months or so, so I have to buy it often. But it’s *worth it.*

Solution, 5/5

When I first went off of the pill in 2020, I got some bad acne. Like the kind that’s deep under your skin and lasts for weeks. Within a week of using Glossier’s Solution, I saw a major improvement! After a month, I hardly had any acne showing at all. When I do get a pimple, it’s on the surface, and the solution gets rid of it within 24-48 hours. With all honesty, this has been a lifesaver. I will never not buy this. It’s advertised as an exfoliator, so I try to use it just twice a week, and whenever I feel a pimple coming on.

Futuredew, 5/5

I use Futuredew before I put on my makeup in the morning. It’s not a necessary step, but I feel like it makes my face look fresh and dewy, and adds so much moisture. I love it and it lasts 6-8 months.

Milky Jelly Cleanser, 4/5

I feel neutral about this one. I expected this to help with my acne when I bought it, but it didn’t seem to make any difference. My skin does feel clean, though, and there has been no negative effect with it. I’m going to use it until it’s gone, but I probably won’t buy it again.

Cleanser Concentrate, 4/5

Speaking of cleansers, I do love the cleanser concentrate. I use it every time I’m in the shower. My face feels so clean and refreshed afterwards, especially during the summer! I’ve had mine for months now and I’m not even halfway through, so it lasts a long time.

Generation G Lipstick, 5/5

I am so picky when it comes to textures and products - especially lipstick. I’ve tried MAC, Estee Lauder, NYX, and plenty of other lipsticks, lip tints, etc. Generation G is the only one that I like. It feels more like a lip tint than a lipstick, which is personally what I’m going for. It’s pigmented enough to show, but it looks very natural. I have 4 shades - Crush, Like, Cake, and Poppy. Poppy is a little too bright for me, but I love the other 3! It can be dry, so I always put on chapstick before I apply it.

Stretch Concealer, 3/5

The stretch concealer is perfect if you’re looking for a light coverage concealer for small blemishes and around the eyes. If you’re trying to cover up acne or discoloration, this is not going to do it.

Lidstar, 4/5

I really like Lidstar. It feels like a retro way to apply eyeshadow, but I love it! It’s easy to apply and move, and I love the color Fawn.

Perfecting Skin Tint, 4/5

Again, because of my particularities with texture, I never wear foundation. However, I did try out the perfecting skin tint since I wanted a bit more coverage because of my acne. I enjoyed this product so much in the warmer months! It adds great coverage, but it looks like nothing is there, and it feels like skin care. During the colder months, it got a little clingy to my skin when it got dry, but other than that it’s great!

Lash Stick, 2/5

Lash Stick is the only product from Glossier that I tried and didn’t like. My goal with mascara is to make my eyes pop. Lash Stick is definitely a more subtle, wispy kind of mascara. I also felt like it was flaky and it irritated my eyes. I used it for maybe a week and called it quits.

Eyeliner, 4/5

I used Urban Decay’s eyeliner for the longest time, but when Glossier came out with their own, I obviously had to try it. And you guessed it - it’s amazing. It glides on really well, and is moveable. Which is kind of a weird way to say it, but after it’s on, you can kind of direct it with your finger. It lasts a long time and doesn’t smear as the day goes on. I have mine in fresco, a deep green-blue color.

Haloscope, 5/5

Haloscope is the perfect finishing touch on my face - whether I do a full face of makeup or just put on a touch of boy brow and mascara and call it good, it makes my face look alive. It’s super easy to apply and stays all day. It lasts for a good 8 months.

Cloud Paint, 5/5

Last but certainly not least, is Cloud Paint. I have it in Beam, a nice peachy color. I feel sun kissed and beachy when I wear it. It’s creamy and very easy to apply. It’s pretty pigmented, so trust me when I say - a little goes a long way.

Monochromes, 5/5

I use the monochrome eyeshadow pallet daily. It’s really pigmented, so be careful with how much you apply when you’re first trying it. I love the Teak color - it’s a great extra warm neutral. I tried Clay at first, and that was way too orange for me.

No. 1 Pencil, 4/5

I absolutely love the No. 1 Pencil! It glides on so smooth, and you can correct it with your finger so easily. My only issue is that it can smear off during the day depending on how much you rub your eyes. My eyes can become irritated easily - basically by just existing - so it doesn’t quite withstand all the touching I do. Other than that, it’s amazing!

After Baume, 5/5

Ok, I just purchased this, so I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, BUT I have already noticed a difference! I purchased the mini after baume (because I was just trying it and it’s $$) to use on my dry areas under my nose and around my mouth and chin. I feel like the area is much less dry and red. I use this at night, and then apply my normal moisturizer as usual.

Universal Pro Retinol, 4/5

I tried this a couple summers ago and I really liked it! My skin felt pretty taut and clear when I was using this. I had to stop when I became pregnant, though. I’m waiting for my hormones to balance out before I see if I feel like I need to get this again.

I hope this blog has taught you a little more about Glossier, and convinced you to try it! I promise, it’s so worth it! My skin is literally so soft and I finally achieved the minimal makeup look.
